Bedlam City

Down by the side of Bed-lam ci-ty
Oh there I heard a maid com-plain,
She was mak-ing griev-ous la-men-ta-tion,
"I've lost my loved, my on-ly swain."

"I wish I'd wing's, I would fly un-to him
And lock him close with-in these arms;
How cruel my pa-rents to re-fuse him!
For oh! he had ten thou-sand charms."

Down on a bed of straw she tum-bled,
She made her moan and this re-ply,
"I've lost my on-ly joy and com-fort,
How could my pa-rents him de-ny?"
